Year 7 Digital Technology

Learning in Digital Technology focuses on developing your understanding and skills in computational thinking and the way data is stored and interpreted.

The subject explores algorithms, computational thinking and programming with students doing an online course using drag and drop programming blocks. It culminates in students using their new-found skills to interact creatively with simple robots and producing a game / story app.

What do you do?

In studying this subject you will:

  • learn programming and computational thinking through the completion of a Blockly / JavaScript based, online programming course
  • collect data and learn to use various techniques to display that data visually
  • program a Spider helicopter and a Sphero ball to carry out manoeuvres.

What skills do you develop?

You will develop skills including:

  • computational thinking
  • binary coding
  • data representation
  • creating digital solutions.

You must have access to the internet in order to access this course. Weekly work will be completed and submitted online.
