On Thursday 2nd March the first ever Food Studies seminar was held at the DECV. A first because Food Studies is a brand new subject implemented by VCAA for 2017 and a first because this is the first time a Food Studies seminar has ever been attempted at the DECV, which does not have a student kitchen. Overall, the seminar was a great success. Ten of the twenty-one students enrolled attended and participated in pH testing and starch gelatinisation experiments in the science lab. A number of students were able to work directly with their allocated “Food Studies Online Buddy” and other students were able to develop new academic and social relationships.
