At DECV we understand that good learning is built on good wellbeing. We believe all students deserve the chance to enjoy positive mental health and wellbeing, so all DECV staff work with our students to make this possible.
We want students to feel like DECV is a place they belong, where they can connect with other students and staff, and know they are accepted for who they are. We’re here to help students find a path to success, in a way that allows them to feel good about themselves.
For this to happen, we need resilience – the ability to cope with all the stuff life throws at us each day. We understand there are times when this is easier said than done, so we make it easy for students to get help when they need it.
Your child’s Learning Advisor will be one of the first people they get to know and will be the main point of contact at DECV. They will walk alongside your child throughout the year to help with the many and varied questions and challenges that arise. It might be about putting together the best learning plan, or reaching out at a time when stress levels are on the rise. You and your child are strongly encouraged to call or email them with any queries.
Sometimes students find themselves feeling overwhelmed by the demands of school and life, or feel daunted by big changes that might be hard to deal with. The Student Wellbeing team are available to help.
