F-6 Connect with Distance Day: Old Things Are New Again!

DECV teachers always look forward to seeing students and their families coming to DECV to learn new skills and make new friends.

The last Connect with Distance Day for 2018 attracted many families from distant places: Warrnambool, Goornong, Heyfield and Morwell.

Visiting performers ‘Trash Puppets’ were a highlight! We used recyclable materials to create puppets that moved. Jet, the presenter, demonstrated how we could be creative with different materials to build a variety of puppets. It was amazing to see how creative DECV students and teachers can be with trash!

DECV’s Student Voice planned several activities that were very cleverly done by everyone. Sarah from Roots and Shoots showed us how to create a recyclable carry bag from old T- Shirts.

Tins were transformed into pencil cases, CD cases into attractive photo frames and plastic bottles into bird feeders.

The day finished with a BBQ lunch in DECV’s courtyard.

New DECV friendships were formed and everyone went home with something interesting they made.
