The first postcard features a composite of images and material uncovered by the Centenary Team.

Below are explanations of the separate images.

Sample of work by student Neil Prewett, age 9, sent to his correspondence teacher in 1916.

Neil’s mother had written a letter in 1914 requesting correspondence lessons for her two sons due to their isolation in country Victoria, which led to the formation of the Correspondence School (which became DECV).

The Prewett family maintained a strong connection to the school, and in1968 nine members of the family (including Neil) visited the school to view a memorial painting and plaque honoring Mrs Prewett’s part in the evolution of correspondence tuition in Victoria.  It hangs today in a meeting room at DECV.
