Support

While the core business of the DECV lies in the teaching and learning programs designed for students enrolled in the three subschools, the school is not simply a deliverer of curriculum content.

The DECV prides itself on the level of support it offers both its full and part-time students. In the majority of cases, students deal directly with an individual teacher be it for a single subject or an entire program. Every attempt is made to keep teacher-student contact consistent and ongoing.

Each student is also allocated a support teacher who will liaise with student, family and/or school and often supports the student beyond their curriculum-based stuidies.

A growing number of support programs are now in place including specialised curriculum materials for disengaged students, and targeted courses for pregnant and parenting mums. Furthe information can be found in the programs section of the site.

Student Wellbeing

Student wellbeing is an important aspect of school life. The DECV aims to maintain a caring, supportive and inclusive school community for all students.

Research shows that students are better prepared for learning when they are emotionally and physically healthy and have the capacity to bounce back from problems or issues.

The DECV has a Student Wellbeing Coordinator. One of the important roles of thios position is to act as a resource to students and parents in relation to all student wellbeing matters.

If you have any queries or concerns, contact the Student Wellbeing Coordinator on
