The Distance Education Centre Victoria is a member of the Australasian Association of Distance Education Schools (AADES). AADES is the peak professional organisation in Australasia representing school level distance education and advocates for the views and needs of school sector distance education at a state and national level.
AADES facilitates professional development activities and conferences for distance educators to further promote the innovative high quality practices throughout Australia and New Zealand. It provides a range of forums encouraging discussion and debate on issues of significance to distance education. AADES encourages, initiates and supports research activities that are applicable to distance and flexible learning.
AADES was formed in 1993 and currently has in excess of 1200 members in all Australian states and New Zealand.
